INUYASHA: SENGOKU O-TOGI ZOUSHI:
Buying the manga for yourself

MANGA TRANSLATION HOME

Buying the Inuyasha manga

Inuyasha manga is available in many different places and in several formats. While I provide a temporary viewing and translations, it's always best to get the manga for yourself. Typically, Japanese bookstores will carry the Japanese publications. I buy Shounen Sunday weekly from local vendors, and buy the tankoubon through local retailers here, but there's several online ways to get the publications:

Shounen Sunday - Shogakukan Weekly Publication

Shonen Sunday is the weekly that publishes Inuyasha in chapters. Each chapter is typically 18 pages long and roughly 25.5cm x 18cm (B5-JIS) in size. There are also color pages, advertisements... y'know, like any magazine.

Shonen Sunday, despite its name, is released on Wednesdays. This publication is in Japanese language (with furigana), and also has other manga titles such as Meitantei Konan (Detective Conan), Ueki no Housoku PLUS (Law of Ueki) and others.

Tankoubon - Japanese language collection
(volumes 1 - 51 currently available)

Tankoubon are the compliations of each 8-10 chapters of Inuyasha. These are published about 2-3 months after the chapters are published in Shounen Sunday.

Each book is in black and white print, no color pictures, and roughly about 18cm x 12cm (A5-JIS) in size. This is probably the most common way people get the Japanese language version of Inuyasha.

Graphic Novels - English language release
(volumes 1 - 31 currently available)

These are the English-language adaptations of Inuyasha, published by VIZ. There are two editions of Inuyasha in print.

The first edition was called "Inu-Yasha: a Fuedal Fairy Tale" (see the larger books in the back). The second edition is called "InuYasha," (the smaller books in the front). Each book is in black and white print, no color pictures.

Most large bookstore chains and a few music/video stores (such as Borders, Barnes & Noble, even Suncoast) in the US will carry the Graphic Novels.
