Anyhow, you basically learn about Kagura's personality here, and how her desire is for freedom. Her decision to help you is less out of concern for you and more out of the fact she wants to spite Naraku. Heeheehee. Oh, how true to character, eh? Naraku is indeed hiding out on the island, and when you encounter him... Kagura gets herself in deep, deep, trouble. Not that she cares at first, though, since she basically comes out and is like, "Ha, I'll fujin no mai your ass!" And Naraku's like, "Shyeah. Right." *squish* So. I've been debating on whether or not to spoil this part of the game. But I figured that this gameblog has already been full of spoilers, so... Naraku does kill Kagura in this game. But yeah, I think her death was much more eloquent in the manga than in Juso. ;) But since I played this part of the game way back in the spring, looking back on it now, maybe it was a premonition... o.O So now even though Kagura is gone, your team has to beat up on Naraku. And beat up on him, they do! At first, Naraku seems too powerful for you. Y'know all those things in the manga that make him irritatingly "unbeatable?" He's got 'em here, too. Barrier, check. Evil tentacles, check. Evil gaseous emissions, check. It does play out a lot like your usual Naraku-Ikkou encounters in the manga. There's a lot fo gloating from Naraku, a lot of screaming and yelling and "Crap! He's got a barrier!" from Inuyasha, a "Kyahh! He took my shikon shards!" from Kagome, and some "RRRAAAAAH! WE WILL LAY T3H SMACKDOWN ON J00!" from everyone. Then guess who comes out and lends a bit of a helping hand? The dead chick! WOOHOO! Go, Kikyou! :D So she breaks down the barrier for you. But then of course, Naraku uses the Shikon shard he just stole from Kagome to power up, and... BECOMES UBER NARAKU!! (Who strangely appears in his post-Hakureizan form, which I'm sure will throw some folks who haven't seen the series that far. But oh well...) But oh, was it fun to battle this bastard! :D Now, becuase there's six charaters in battle, the fight does seem to run long. Naraku is fast, so he'll end up getting a lot of rotations out of what seems like one of yours. So for instance, he might be able to strike twice in the time it takes Kagome to go through one rotation. He's also pretty strong, and has the ability to regenerate his HP, so this battle can get long. He took out my Shippou pretty fast (blech!), and he also knocked Kagome and Sango (who was running low on power going in already) out once. Miroku is the one I tend to protect the most in these battles, since he can revive people. The deathblow is pretty interesting. I love Inuyasha's reaction to beating him. "Well, I'll be damned! WE DID IT!!" I can totally imagine him saying that in the manga. XD To hear the actual voice shouting it was hilarious, though. All too fitting. Although, don't let things get too comfortable... ;) We're still not home yet. ...literally. Don't you remember what your entire purpose of the game was? |
